Auckland’s Queens Wharf is a bit of a disappointment really. Yes, there’s the historic Shed 10, restored and repurposed to handle cruise ship passengers, and the Cloud, which despite being lovely- to- look at seems to have no real purpose since the Rugby World Cup. If neither of these buildings are in use, Queens Wharf’s main role seems to be a pick up/drop off point for passengers from the neighbouring ferry building. A few fishermen wander down to the end of the wharf with their buckets and rods, and occasionally a curious pedestrian is drawn in by the promise of magnificent harbour views.
They’d certainly find the views, and they’d also find a few surprisingly comfortable chairs- cum-beds for resting weary feet/escaping from work/having a picnic.
I thought about keeping this a secret but I trust you. You won’t tell anyone else, will you?
