New Zealand sent more men to fight in WW1 per head of population than any other nation. After the war, memorials were built in towns up and down the country so that families would have a place to go to remember their loved ones, buried in unmarked graves far away. This is the War Memorial in Auckland’s Domain lit up for ANZAC Day.
